During Innovation Week, FIRST Robotics will showcase student projects, host workshops, and collaborate with industry experts.
First Mentorship
It takes a village to raise a child. Mentors are part of that village by finding new opportunities and different perspectives to learn from. They enhance the learning experience on top of what the coaches can provide. A mentor can be anyone within your community or even around the world. Mentors can provide discussion topics and introductions to relevant professionals, as well as assist with robot build or programming.
Mentorship is a cornerstone of FIRST Robotics' success. “Mentors play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students. It’s not just about technical skills; it’s about fostering a growth mindset and encouraging perseverance,” Ingrid explains. Mentors, coming from various professional backgrounds, provide invaluable insights and guidance to help students achieve their full potential. Many mentors are alumni, returning to give back, creating a cycle of support and inspiration.
FIRST Robotics has been a key participant in Innovation Week since its days at the Hamm Institute, consistently providing students with hands-on experience in STEM. Their ongoing involvement helps students develop technical and problem-solving skills that align with the event's goals of fostering innovation and preparing future leaders in science and technology. This year, they continue to contribute by empowering students and strengthening STEM education.
