Governor Stitt Proclaims Oklahoma’s Second Annual Aerospace Week, Hosted by the Oklahoma City Innovation District in Partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics

Oklahoma City, OK — The Oklahoma City Innovation District (OKCID) is pleased to announce the second annual Aerospace Week, as proclaimed by Governor Stitt, is set for March 31 through April 6, 2025. This statewide event is made possible through a partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA). In a 2024 interview with OKCID, ODAA Executive Director Grayson Ardies emphasized the significance of Aerospace Week, noting, “Oklahoma is a leader for solving some of our challenges, not just in the state, but nationwide.” As Oklahoma’s second largest industry, aerospace employs over 120,000 people and contributes more than $44 billion annually to the state economy. This dedicated week celebrates Oklahoma’s thriving aerospace, drawing attention to the state’s contributions and fostering pathways for future growth.

Aerospace Week Highlights

Aerospace Week will feature several key events, beginning with a celebratory kick-off from 4 to 6 p.m. at Innovation Hall (set to open January 1, 2025). Hosted by OKCID, this event will introduce participants to the Convergence Campus and launch a week filled with engaging activities.

Also at Innovation Hall, the University of Oklahoma’s Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute (OADII) will host an Aerospace & Defense Symposium for industry experts to learn about emerging defense technologies. Additionally, the Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education (OARE) will host their own symposium on emerging technology at the OSU Hamm Institute. On April 3, the Oklahoma ACES will host Annual Career Fair at Rose State Community College, projected to attract over 800 job seekers eagerly exploring opportunities in Oklahoma’s aerospace sector. ODAA will hold Aero Day at the Capitol, which is expected to draw more than 1,000 attendees as industry leaders engage with state legislators to advocate for supportive policies. To engage young minds, OKCID will organize tours for Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) students, providing them with valuable insights into local aerospace facilities and the various career paths available in Oklahoma. In Weatherford, the Stafford Air & Space Museum will be offering half-off all admission tickets the entire week.
